“Ancient Waves knows how to create music that builds on gorgeously strange beats and a hypnotic outpouring of emotions. “Mississippi Song” was written around a special place – a rock ledge in St. Paul where Jarad Miles used to sit and look over the Mississippi River. It came to pass that his daughter also took an interest in this special place, and the song was born out of this unique spot. The band’s versatile songwriting, bold hooks, and high intensity production delivers an anthemic number with their signature blend of indie-rock and a twist of grungy rock edge.”

“Jarad Miles & The Ancient Waves was the one and only local band on the bill on Saturday but they’re really all the show needed. The way the entire band played together was like magic. Every member had a place, much like every note did, yet the quick opening set came off as super organic and free. The structure of the songs they played weren’t super different or avant-garde, in fact, they felt fairly standard but it’s what these members did within those solid beats that had me hooked. It was as if they had me on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what style or vibe they would dig into on the next song. They left an impression on me with their set on Saturday and definitely earned a spot on my radar.”

“It’s a rare treat to get to hear a musician twice in a day, playing very different renditions of the same songs but the beauty of having a radio show is that sometimes I get to do that. Both shows were fabulous. The show in the studio was acoustic, it felt private and the lyrics shone through. The show at the 331 had the electronica feel, it was richer sonically and of course included an engaged and happy audience.”
